World-Renowned Crews: Our crews have taken the hip hop world by storm. Finalists of LA’s Hip Hop International and World Dance Championship, you won’t find a more exciting recital anywhere!
Hip Hop Tots: It is never too early to start grooving on the big stage! Our mini hip hop dancers are a sight to be seen!
Dance Parents: One of our show highlights is the annual parent dance. Every year features a different concept and it’s so fun!

FAQs

Funk Lab’s 2026 recital, titled “Breakin” and Modern Elements recital “Crown’s Up” take place the weekend of May 30-31. Dress rehearsal is May 30 and recital is May 31. Every performer will receive an exact show assignment in April 2026. This will include the time of the dancer’s performance. Each class only performs once.

The Schiewetz Auditorium inside the Dayton Masonic Center!
The 1,700 seat auditorium has a state of the art professional concert sound system and is the perfect place for large formal gatherings and events!
Over the last 5 years the preservation and modernization of this space has included the addition of handrails on the stair cases, new stage lighting and audio, new cloth seats, new carpeting, and retouching of the hand-painted murals that surround the room and ceiling.

Recital is not required. While 99% of our dancers do perform at recital, we have students who are unable to attend due to vacations, performance anxiety or other commitments. These dancers can still enjoy class with us!

There is a fee of $60 per family. This fee includes a souvenir program, drawstring bag and 4 tickets to our show. Additional tickets can be purchased the second week in May, 2025.
Recital fee is due February 1 2026.

Modern Elements begins measuring students for costumes mid-November.
Funk Lab has a sizing google form for each parent to complete.
Costume fees are $60 for Funk Lab and $65 for Modern Elements. These are due November 1, 2025.
Costumes arrive and are fitted in February through April.

Rather than opting for traditional dance studio catalog options, we curate our costumes from actual street wear that embodies the essence of hip hop culture. Our costumes are carefully chosen to reflect the style, attitude, and individuality of hip hop, allowing our dancers to express themselves while also ensuring practicality and versatility, as they can be reworn beyond the stage.
